Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
This policy explains which cookies michieldas.com uses, what they are for, and how you can accept them, reject them or change your choice at any time.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit it. They are used, for example, to remember your preferences or to compile usage statistics.
2. How your consent is managed
On your first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept all cookies, keep only the necessary ones, or manage your preferences by category. Until you give consent, no analytics cookies are set: the site uses Google Consent Mode v2 with all signals denied by default.
The banner distinguishes two categories:
- Necessary: essential for the site to work (such as remembering your own cookie choice). They do not require consent.
- Analytics: usage statistics via Google Analytics 4. They are only set if you accept them.
3. Cookies used on this site
In addition, Cloudflare (the site's hosting and CDN provider) may occasionally set strictly necessary technical cookies for security reasons (for example, to mitigate automated attacks). These cookies do not identify you and are not used for advertising.
This site uses no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Embedded third-party content
Some pages (the blog posts, "About me" and the press entries) embed videos from YouTube and Vimeo and documents from Scribd. This content does not load on its own: until you press play or open the document you only see a thumbnail hosted on this site, and no request is sent and no cookie is set by those platforms.
Once you press it, the player or viewer loads from that platform, which may set its own cookies and process your data under its own privacy policy (Google/YouTube, Vimeo, Scribd). YouTube videos are embedded in no-cookie mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
4. How to change your preferences
You can review or change your choice at any time:
- Via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer, available on every page.
- Or with this button:
You can also block or delete cookies from your browser settings:
Note that if you block all cookies in your browser, the cookie that remembers your consent cannot be saved either, so the banner will appear again.
5. Global Privacy Control (GPC)
This site honours the Global Privacy Control signal: if your browser sends it, it is automatically treated as a rejection of cookies used for advertising purposes. For visitors from the United States, the footer link is shown as "Your Privacy Choices" and lets you opt out at any time.
6. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy if the cookies on the site or the applicable law change. Any changes will be published on this page with the corresponding update date.
